Important Message from Sally Fallon Morell
to All Raw Milk Producers and Consumers

Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense FundThe Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund (FTCLDF) protects your right to provide and obtain raw milk. All raw milk producers should be members of the FTCLDF and we strongly encourage all raw milk consumers to help protect their access to raw milk by becoming consumer members as well. www.farmtoconsumer.org

Important Notes

  1. RAW MILK CONSUMERS PLEASE NOTE: This list of raw milk sources probably represents only a portion of the raw milk producers in your state. For additional raw milk sources, contact your local Weston A. Price Foundation Chapter Leader. The Weston A. Price Foundation reserves the right at its sole discretion to exclude raw milk producers not considered qualified.
  2. RAW MILK PRODUCERS PLEASE NOTE: The FDA and State Agencies have discovered this list and sometimes use it for their own purposes, so exercise caution with your listing. If you choose not to have a listing, make sure your local WAPF Chapter Leader has your name for referrals.
  3. USDA, FDA and STATE AG AGENCIES PLEASE NOTE: Raw milk is Nature’s perfect food and is extremely important for the developing brains and nervous systems of infants and children. Furthermore, in many children not fortunate enough to have started life on raw milk, raw milk given later in childhood has cured autism, behavior problems, frequent infections, deafness, asthma and allergies and other serious health conditions. Please bear in mind that any move you make to stop or hinder a raw dairy operation will actually HARM, not help the infants and children who rely on that milk, and may make it difficult for all children to obtain this milk in the future--including your own children and grandchildren. An interruption in supply can be VERY detrimental to a growing infant or sick child who has no other options. Read for yourself at http://www.realmilk.com/appeal-jun06-testimonials.html. If you are concerned about safety, rest assured. In the farm-to-consumer distribution model, the farmer receives timely and relevant feedback directly from the customers, something that farmers selling bulk milk never receive. Raw milk is actually the safest food around with so much consumer oversight and also with an extremely efficient built-in anti-pathogen mechanism! If you are concerned about rules, then consider investing the same amount of time you’d spend persecuting a raw milk farmer into advocating for supportive raw milk legislation.
  4. PLEASE NOTE also that the Webmaster does not know of other sources and will only direct you to check with the closest local chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation.--Please do not email the webmaster asking where you can find raw milk. Thank you.
  5. NO MARKETING: The email addresses listed here are not to be used for any purpose other than to contact the farmers regarding the availability of their products. Use of the listed email addresses for marketing or other such purposes is strictly prohibited.
  6. LISTING SOURCES: The listings here are provided by people who discover sources of real milk in their communities and tell us about them. If you discover a listed supplier is no longer providing real milk, please tell us about it by . We trust our members and consumers to check out each farm to make sure it is clean and that the cows are mostly pasture fed.

Washington

Updated June 12, 2008. All the dairies listed below are Grade A, and licensed by the state of Washington to produce and sell raw milk for human consumption. As of now, there are more than sixty cities and towns in Washington where raw milk is sold. New dairies, pick-up points and retail outlets are being added all the time, so check with your local chapter leader for the latest additions that might not yet be on this list.

The following raw milk products are legal in the state of Washington: whole milk, cream, skim milk, colostrum and raw milk cheeses aged for at least 60 days.

A dairy and locations where its milk is sold are placed on this list at the dairy owner’s request after their certification as a raw milk dairy has been verified and they have provided the information requested.

A new section has been added at the end of Washington raw milk listings to advise consumers of farms where they can purchase raw milk cheeses. This section has been added because raw milk cheeses can be hard to find outside the major population areas.

Home and office delivery of raw cow and raw goat milk is available to Puget Sound locations from Everett to Yelm through SPUD, an organic produce home delivery service, www.spud.com. Their raw milk cow milk is supplied by Sea Breeze Farm, (see listing under Vashon Island), and their raw goat milk is supplied by St. John Creamery, (see listing under Everett.)

A national advisory committee is currently working on new size-appropriate and cost-appropriate licensing requirements that would, if adopted, make it more feasible for micro dairies to become licensed. This would greatly increase the supply of certified raw milk in Washington to meet the growing consumer demand.

  • Tonasket: Larkhaven Farm now offers raw goat and sheep cheeses. Their offerings consist of three cheeses made from traditional recipes: Manchego Curado - An old Spanish recipe, made with 100% sheep milk. This hard cheese develops a flaky, moist texture and a characteristically full-bodied flavor. Rosa Rugosa - A mold-ripened cheese made by a traditional Corsican recipe with a perfect combination of sheep and goat milks, taking advantage of the different qualities of each. More robust than brie, milder than camembert, the complex, delicate texture is as notable as the interplay of flavors. Named for the wild rose that is abundant in Tonasket, the cheese forms a natural rind with the aid of a rose-colored mold that enhances both the appearance and the flavor over the aging period. Whitestone Feta - Again made by combining the two milks, their raw milk aged feta is named after a local landmark. Aged for at least 60 days in a special brine of our own recipe, it develops a depth of flavor you won't find in large-production commercial cheeses. Stored under refrigeration in the brine it comes packed in, the flavor continues to develop. They like it best when it's aged at least six months, and consider it to have a one-year shelf life. Farm-direct retail price for all three cheeses is $15/pound. Wholesale buyers and chefs please contact them for samples and price quotes. All lovers of raw milk farmstead cheeses please contact www.larkhavenfarm.com/contact to inquire about availability and the best shipping method. Sam Howell and Clare Paris. They are currently offering a raw cow milk cheese we call Vache. It has a delicate, buttery texture and a milky-sweet nuttiness. It is a classic, cellar-aged Tomme cheese, typical of the Alpine regions of France, Italy and Switzerland. A hint of apple-pear fruitiness suggests a fine paring with our Sauvignon Blanc or a high quality dry Cidre. Our meats, raw dairy, eggs, meat broths, cheese, wines and other prepared foods are available at the following Seattle area Farmers Markets: Ballard, Sundays year round; U-District, Saturdays, year round; West Seattle Market, Sundays, 10 am to 2 pm year-round; Columbia City, Wednesdays, May-October; Vashon Island, Saturdays, 10am to 2pm year-round.
