This 72-acre family farm is on the Nehalem River just outside of Vernonia. They produce raw Jersey milk, produce, fruit, eggs, and pastured meat.
They use no synthetic fertilizers. Instead compost, manure, organic amendments, and wood chips form the building blocks of their soil. They do not use any organic or inorganic pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides on their vegetables. Nothing gets sprayed except organic foliar fertilizers like fish hydrolyze and kelp products.
They source their feed locally in Western Oregon. Their pigs and chickens eat only non-GMO, corn-free, soy-free local grains. Their dairy cows are grass fed on pasture year round in a rotational grazing system. They receive a small amount of non-GMO grain during milking plus essential minerals and kelp. Strict cleanliness standards are kept. Closed loop commercial milking machine made by Delaval used. Milk is quick chilled and stored in a dedicated fridge. Regular coliform count and standard plate count testing is performed and results are posted on site.
On-site farm store open seven days per week for milk sales. Summer hours: Noon to 5pm weekdays; noon to 7pm weekends. Pricing is $16/gallon or $9/half gallon plus half gallon jar and lid deposit.
